DropShelf Privacy Policy

DropShelf (package name app.dropshelf) is a local-first Android share target and file shelf utility that lets you save files, links, plain text, HTML documents, and ZIP archives from any app's Share menu into Download/DropShelf or a user-selected folder. This policy explains what the app accesses, what it never does, where data lives, and how you control it.

1. We collect no personal data

• The app requests no INTERNET permission. It is technically incapable of transmitting any data to the developer or any third party.
• No analytics, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporting services, no user accounts, and no cloud servers.
• The developer cannot view your files, shared text, URLs, or usage history.

2. What the app accesses on your device

• Content you explicitly share or pick: DropShelf only reads streams that you explicitly send to it via the Android system Share sheet (ACTION_SEND / ACTION_SEND_MULTIPLE) or select via the system Storage Access Framework (SAF) document picker.
• Save destinations: Files are written to Download/DropShelf/ via MediaStore.Downloads, or to a custom folder you explicitly grant via SAF (ACTION_OPEN_DOCUMENT_TREE). The app does not request broad storage permissions (no MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE or READ_MEDIA_*).

3. What the app never does

• It never scans your media library, clipboard, or filesystem in the background.
• It never modifies or deletes the source app's original files.
• HTML previews default to safe Reading Mode (JavaScript disabled and all external network requests blocked) using a sandboxed local WebViewAssetLoader.

4. Storage and deletion

• Incoming streams are staged in the app's private cache (cache/incoming) and cleaned up automatically after saving or cancellation.
• Saved files remain in your chosen folder on device storage, while the history index and UI preferences are stored in local app-private storage (Room / DataStore).
• You can remove individual or all history entries inside the app at any time, delete saved files using your device's Files app, or uninstall DropShelf to remove all app-private data.

5. Children's privacy

DropShelf is a general-purpose file utility and does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
